I am working on creating a TVTropes page for your comic. Somebody previously created a page for it, but it was deleted because they didn’t add tropes to it.
I am excited to see what happens next. Maybe Ember will finally ask him the questions she never dared to ask before and we will find out what Flint’s deal is.
Actually, I reread the comic and it looks like she did previously try to ask him the important stuff when she was younger but he didn’t answer back then.
Thinking about how Flints body actually works the last couple pages. He’s a shade so he doesn’t have a physical presence with a body of shadow. And from what I remember that dagger isn’t enchanted. So Flint would be choosing to manifest a physical body to harm in this case since there was blood on the last page?
He can touch things and we saw Ember put a dagger into his foot to stun him during their last confrontation.
Correct! He is allowing the blade to cut him. Ember is certainly not sure what to make of this.
I have an idea why. Its the classic star wars enigma. thats her father biologically as far as we know and the one who raised her. He always wanted her to enjoy killing which is why he had his kids go after rabbits and the like. She never did. THIS however is what she always wanted. To kill him, destroy the evil and hurt he represents to her past and even leaching into her present. this is a kill he knows she would ENJOY and that could lead her down a dark path. Even if she means well and go’s crusader mode he knows she has that taint and every kill every death she causes will cause that curse to weigh on her harder until she herself becomes as ramial said to the other demon girl “Hollow on the inside, just a weapon”.
The fact that he’s become an excellent father the moment she showed how powerful she was proved that he could have been a good parent the whole time, and simply chose not to be. That makes it so much worse.
It may be that he always cared about his kids in his own twisted way, but he is so messed up that he actually believed and probably still believes that the unloving way he treated them was good parenting. He ignored Lupa’s warning that forcefully turning his kids into demons wouldn’t stop them from leaving him, so I think that he either is so full of himself that he didn’t believe her, or he drove them away on purpose because he thought it would be good for them or for some other evil plan.
I would argue that is not “becoming an excellent father”.
Yes, he IS insane.
Oh… I hope that swing of the blade did not accidentally get Kaylia….
I’m not worried about Kayla.
I’m worried because this, I think is Flint planning on finally claiming his daughter.
He never treated her right, made sure to build in her a hatred of all he is…
And killing him is a clean way to ensure he never darkens her door again…
Normally.
But I bet he’s prepped himself so that when she kills him, granting him the pain of death…He’s going to turn his pain into her Demonic Power. And thus empowered, the Tennin will never accept her.
FINISH HIM!
