Pre-orders for the first Bloodline book are still open! Be sure to buy a copy to support the comic! [Link]
Sales have been pretty good so far, but we’re still 20 or so books short of my printing goal!
In other news, it’s been a looooong week. Feels like it’s been forever since we had a Bloodline page. Book stuff has kept me busy, and will probably keep me busy for the rest of the month. I’m super happy to finally be printing books though, I’ve been putting off conventions until I had some, so I’ll be able to start going to them again.
“Subdemon”? Are Quelladar not that well thought of in Sia-Vay?
Well they are apparently very likely to become demons when raised by demons.

Demons are not highly thought of outside of certain circles, so it is a natural negative association. Then again, “subdemon” sounds very much like an insult considering that nobody here has red eyes. Then again, these are three career combatants and only one unarmed person confronting them, of a race that can be publicly disparaged. Unless there is something missing from this equation, the passing stranger shouldn’t expect much from lines in the sand…
Well Ken looks like he is fine. He looks really pissed probably because Ember got the better of him, but he is fine none the less. Those guys must really have some serious prejudice of anyone with demon heritage. Though assuming they were a patrol before being assigned as a garrison unit it’s a bit understandable. At the very least they do seem to tolerate the Quelladar.
Though now I wonder how many Quelladar serve as guardsman and are in the ranks of the Tennin army? If they do serve on patrols and garrisons members are there any in Tenguard? It would make for an interesting scenario if all this commotion in a populated area attracts a guard that is a Quelladar. Ken himself looks like he wants to take a swing at Ember. If they are smart they can say Ember resisted arrest and harmed a guard in an attempt to escape.
Also assuming Ember gets out of this predicament perhaps she can stay with this guy and learn strait from the horses mouth on how to “rid” of her demon problem. That or he might now someone who can help Ember with her demon problem. It had to start somewhere, and I’m sure the Quedallar didn’t write everything they did to rid of their demon heritage in books. Who knows maybe their demon blood is just hidden away like Ember was before Flint decide to wake it up, and someone in Quedallar society might know of a way to seal it away or suppress it.
Ken seemed pretty pleased to have the advantage over Ember, but I doubt he will see the hypocrisy…
The guards at the gate all had matching armour. Silver with red suns. The only thing these people’s have is shoulder-castles with mismatched colours. They say they were sent by the healer, and th healer said they were going to the guards, but these people really look like mercenaries or something? They could easily be more experienced and skilled then the people at the gate, but they seem… less professional?
“Aren’t they supposed to have red eyes?” suggest to me that this particular Quelladar only knows of demons generally, and won’t have any “horses mouth” knowledge to grant : (
Maybe, but Mence’s symbol on his chest matches those of the guards in the front gate, and the reader was afraid of losing his promotion, though I guess highly organized mercenary groups may have ranks. They do seem less professional, but if you recall Gale was a garrison member before, but was always picking a fights so they just sent him back out.
As for the Quedallar that may be true as Elane said there has been a couple of generations so the more younger ones might not know too much, but he may know someone who might be able to help Ember. I would assume if there are those who still judge them they would at least have a semi tightly knit community of Quelladars.
I like how Ken and Mence are going for their swords to back him up while the Reader is in front gesturing menacingly with his spellcasting hand. Is their power that well-known and feared or is he just continuing to act recklessly? He let his promotion go to his head and needs some training in dealing with civilians.
You seem to be implying that being a reader is a position or rank. I believe that being a reader is a talent, specifically the ability to sense magic.
That said, Mence does seem like someone who tries to keep the team from going rogue while Mr. Springboard and the Reader keep getting into mischief. Very astute observation.
I assumed his rank is something like captain in the city guard, we don’t know his name or title at this point. But now I wonder if the readers in the guard are typically the highest ranked members of their squads.
Sil isn’t the leader of her patrol, although the others regarded her as their most valuable asset. Maybe she will be fast-tracked for promotion once she has more experience.
