Wow, I was so surprise with the counter attack, and now Elane shows a friendly side? I don’t now if I trust 100% on what she says, but it’s a hope.
She totally sucks at acting.
She forcefully tries to be friendly right there and it just looks unnatural….
Well, Ember is certainly in agreement with you. She’s acting like she’s going to be attacked by Elane at any moment.
I guess she’s only like that around Denrim. So Denrim only went after Ember because Elane took an interest in her. Elane maybe nice now, but remember in the last comic in chapter 2 (196) Elane believes Ember is dangerous mostly because Ember is something no one has ever seen before. Elane could keep Ember in Tenguard with the false promise of getting rid of her demon side. So it’s kind of hard to tell if she is truly being sincere or not right now.
I wonder if we’ll meet some of Elane’s friends in the guard? Perhaps if Ember is taking trips to the library or other locations in Tenguard Ember might require an escort. Now that I mention that perhaps Denrim either unknowingly or knowingly played well into Elane’s hands. Elane can insist that Ember travels around with an escort. The escort can keep an eye on Ember; and keep her from leaving Tenguard under the guise that he/she is just there to keep Denrim away.
Though I wonder if Denrim, Ken and Mence rummaged through Ember’s backpack and if she had anything valuable in there that they might have taken. Perhaps a research notebook? Or maybe if Ember kept a personal journal they could’ve read it. Ember did have one back when she was living with Flint; which Lupa read it, and notified Flint about their plan of leaving. If Ember did bring her old journal with her when she fled Flint’s place I wouldn’t be surprised if Elane might have rummaged through her belonging and read said journal when her trusted friends at the guard brought her Ember’s backpack. After all Ember is very unusual and reading a personal journal might shed some light into who and what she is.
A bit of a late thought, but one way Denrim can get back at Elane is he could’ve taken Ember’s personal journal read it, and taunt Elane – albeit when Ember is no where around with of all the information he found out about Ember in her journal. This is of course assuming Ember took her journal with her and have been writing new entries since she left Brairwood. That or if he really wants to go for a low blow he can let Ember know about Elane’s true intention that she means to keep her in Tenguard to study her like some specimen.
