And with that, we end chapter 4!
It’s been a while! But as always, I will be taking a month off from Bloodline updates before we resume with chapter 5. Nayah’s Coast updates will resume on their expected posting days.
This turned out to be a pretty beefy chapter! 60% longer than average. But I’m sure you can see why. We have been building towards these revelations for a while now.
What does this mean for Ember going forward? What will become of Kaylia, and where does Bernin’s story go from here? I guess we’ll see, in chapter five!

Is she destroying/dispelling the 2nd monster? Hard to tell, not seeing the deflated husk like the first one.
And that’s it for Chapter 4…
My understanding is that both beasts were absorbed, then dispelled. 458 is the end of dispelling the first one, 459 is the second one being pulled in, and this page is the second one being dispelled. You can tell that it’s being sucked in in 459 because the rune is turning red; here the rune turns blue again as the monster’s spell is pulled out into the orb in front of it to be dispelled.
And the dispel magic is being fueled by the power of the spells themselves: “wield them to destroy them”.
Hopefully this is a correct understanding of events.
At least Kaylia is impressed…there’s some kind of glowy thing going on with her left eye, which might suggest some kind of ability to see magic happening or something.
Could be a reflection, too, if what Ember is doing is creating visible light?
So Ember is a magic eater. She fuels her magic by eating others magic.
Sort of a twist on Veera’s method. Instead of unwinding others’ spells, Ember eats others magic and possibly can take that raw magical power and throw it in an opponent’s face. Maybe even take it right out of a demons body with a bit more practice and weaken them before hitting them with something.
Also looks like Kaylia might have gained something from this. A Seerers power perhaps, or maybe she was always one to begin with.
Maybe a little related to Kaylin’s (Artificial Incident) spell thief ability, though she takes the casting spell and throws it back.
