Well, the beans have been pretty thoroughly cooked by now, so this exposition is likely to reek very badly.
Why do I suddenly get the feeling they’re gonna be the group then end up detaining Ember.
So they are just sidelining Cormac’s group. I would’ve assumed they would just send replacements for Gale, and Callum and it would be back to business as usual. With of course some reprimand coming from above to Cormac. Though I guess Cormac can kiss his chances of being promoted to captain away.
So how much is Bernin is willing to divulge about his past? Bernin probably still want to keep some of his history hush-hush such as for all he knows his entire family is probably blood thirsty demons like Veera/Flint. The very idea that if his siblings were “awakened” very easily by Flint may make the others think there maybe a chance Bernin may “unwillingly” turn on them.
Though here is a crack-pot theory: Someone will notice that Ember signed in the library back in Tenguard and connect the dots to Bernin. I have a feeling that Hillel would probably be the one to figure that out since he is the one who does his research on the group extensively. If anyone is digging up anything they can about Bernin it would be Hillel.
I have a feeling that as prior pages mention Hillel wanted to interrogate Bernin, and I am sure Cormac talked him out of it by promising that he’ll get information from Bernin if he allowed him to do it his way. I won’t be surprised if Hillel is just hanging outside of the room listening in waiting for Bernin to spill the beans about his past.
